Els is a woman with an incredible story. In 2014 she survived a shipwreck in Indonesia. This was the moment that changed everything in her life. Her extraordinary experience taught Els to trust her body and her stamina. Back again in the Netherlands, Els continued her medical studies, but had also discovered her true talent: the Ironman triathlon. She decides to become a professional triathlete, and a few years later crowns herself Dutch and European Champion.
If she feels like quitting in a race, Els knows she has more to give – because she survived eighteen hours in open water.
